At E3 2018, Nintendo made an announcement that sent shock waves throughout their fan-base and gamers everywhere, as not only did the reveal the latest title in the wildly popular Super Smash Bros. series but they announced that every single character which has ever been playable in the past games would be making an appearance in the newly revealed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This gives the game a colossal roster of 65 playable characters which is more than we ever could have asked for. …but ask we will!
Apr 24, 2019 I shall nominate Glass Joe as Little Mac's echo fighter. He is one of the only boxers in Punch Out that has a similar frame, plus with Little Mac being low tier, an even worse echo of him would bring back the intentionally bad joke character niche that is left blank.
Already there’s been rumors of new, unannounced fighters who could be joining the fight and while we personally think many of these rumors are no more than the hopes and dreams of fans we have to admit it’s pretty fun trying to come up with ideas for who will be joining the roster this time around. But, like a good round of Smash Bros. coming up with a potential dream roster is no fun without any challenge, so we’ve decided to take on the ‘ultimate’ character predictions piece and try to determine, for each and every character on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s massive roster who their perfect Echo Fighter will be.
Over the next few weeks and months, leading up to the release of the game on December 7th we will be giving our picks for who the best possible Echo Fighters would be for every single Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character. But wait, what exactly are Echo Fighters and what makes them different from regular characters in the game? Well according to the game’s director Masahiro Sakurai “Echo fighters are based off another fighter but have slight differences in there playstyle.” and the current examples we have are clear indications of what exactly constitutes an Echo Fighter as they all play very similarly to the ‘original’ fighter. So basically, in this series will be looking to find the perfect Echo Fighters for each Smash Bros. fighter by finding another character that looks and behaves similarly but can be tweaked somewhat to make them feel unique.

- The characters we choose must be from the same series as their counterpart (whenever possible).
- The characters we choose cannot be already represented as Assist Trophies or Pokémon which come from Pokéballs.
- Characters represented as Spirits are eligible.
- The Echo Fighter must be mechanically similar with only one or two major changes.
- While actual Echo Fighters physically resemble their partner we will be taking some slight liberties in this department.
- This series will be presented following the fighter’s number on the official Super Smash Bros. website. You can find the full list.
